What is Counselling
Counselling is a therapeutic relationship between two people or more. It is an exploration of thoughts and feelings, working through our emotions positively towards self realisation and self development. Counselling gives us the opportunity to be heard, time to talk, cry, or just think. It is a way to process our feelings and confusions and bring some order into our chaotic lives.
The relationship between a counsellor and a client is also confidential and is based on trust and respect. It is somewhat of a journey through life where upon the counsellor helps to facilitate change in your life that will help you to lead a better more fulfilling life, more able to understand why you are feeling depressed etc. These changes are achieved by helping you to work things out for yourself, and not being led by the counsellor or ‘told what to do’ in any way.
The changes are made by you, in your own time and in your own way which should help you to cope and manage your feelings in the future. It is a time and place for you to talk about difficult thoughts and feelings in a safe confidential listening space.
Confidentiality
